Backpacking Asia is a journey unlike any other. It’s a blend of ancient traditions and modern marvels, from serene temples and terraced rice fields to pulsating city streets. I’ve visited many Asian countries, as it’s one of my favourite parts of the world. Let me be your guide.
My first solo trip to Asia was to Thailand and I loved it so much I’ve returned there several times. My favourite resort was The Sanctuary Thailand.
During my three weeks in Japan, I discovered what to wear and headed over to the tropical islands of Okinawa.
I’ve spent four months in Bali, where I fell in love with Ubud. I also travelled around the island to places like Balian Beach, Uluwatu, Munduk, Pemuteran, Amed, as well as across to the Gili Islands. I discovered peaceful yoga places in Ubud and Sanur, as well as a Balinese massage school.
I travelled around Malaysia in three weeks, including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Tioman Island, Malaysian Borneo and the Perhentian Islands. I particularly enjoyed Malaysia’s tasty street food. In nearby Singapore, I found a clean, green and inspiring city.
India was the first stop on my round-the-world trip, where I spent a month in Goa. In Palolem, I found a great yoga resort, while in Arambol, I discovered the sunset beach parties. I visited a legendary night market and even a fantastic French restaurant in Goa. I also took an incredible side trip to the ancient city of Hampi. Later, I returned to India to spend two weeks in beautiful Kerala.
